Provide targeted and effective maths interventions with the help of this powerful online resource... Shine Interventions AMT from Hachette Learning 1 FOCUS ON INDIVIDUAL LEARNERS’ NEEDS Informed by your Access Mathematics Tests (AMT) results, Shine Interventions: AMT reports on the individual results of your cohort’s learners and flags if an individual learner needs a targeted intervention in a particular learning strand. This empowers you to save resources and provide support only where a learner needs it. If a learner is benchmarking at the expected level in multiplication, but performing below expectations in ratio, you can opt to focus your energies on dealing with the specific strand that’s presenting issues. 2 TRACK PROGRESS OVER TIME At the end of each learning strand, administer a strand-specific Progress Quiz to identify where your learners are progressing and where they need additional support. The questions can be tailored to appropriate learning levels and learning strands, are quick to administer and can be completed within one intervention session. You can test multiple learners or individual learners, depending on how many learners require an intervention within that learning strand. You can then chart their progress with the built-in Progress Quiz Reports . 3 GROUP LEARNERS NEEDING THE SAME INTERVENTION Shine Interventions: AMT also enables you to quickly identify which learning strands specific groups – or indeed your entire cohort – may need additional support with, and then act decisively on that information. You can focus your lesson planning on the strands in question, and make sure that individual learners are covered by specific sessions. The reports also enable you to create specific intervention groups from a small subset of learners, and tailor their education for better results. 4 SAVE TIME WITH READY- MADE RESOURCES Shine Interventions: AMT users receive access to targeted intervention resources developed by mathematical and pedagogical experts, which will be suitable for the relevant mathematical age identified by the standardised AMT assessment. These include downloadable interactive teaching presentations with accompanying teaching notes, Q&A activities and worksheets that let you work through maths questions with your learners as you provide the targeted interventions. Printable activities can meanwhile engage your learners as they practise their new skills, helping you better understand how they’re finding the strand. 5 BUILD KNOWLEDGE GRADUALLY Shine Interventions: AMT develops mathematical knowledge and numerical skills gradually, through a scaffolded approach that incrementally builds skills based on a learner’s performance. If, for example, a learner is struggling with rounding to the nearest thousandth, Shine Interventions: AMT will go back a few steps and make sure that they understand rounding to the nearest tenth first. This way, learners acquire a strong foundational knowledge of mathematical principles and can develop their skills further. Key Points Access advanced reports that can highlight the needs of individuals and groups, and access targeted interventions for those specific learning strands where learners need support. Track students’ progress over time with online Progress Quizzes for each learning strand, which will let you easily compare how different learners are progressing in subsequent submissions. Each PowerPoint presentation includes detailed teaching notes to empower the person delivering the intervention session – whatever their mathematical knowledge. The resources are developed bymathematical and pedagogical experts in their fields, with a focus on helping learners gradually build their skills and comprehension over time.
